May 9, 2008: Black Tape w/ MONOTONIX live at henry’s cellar bar
We are overly excited to present Monotonix live at Black Tape on Fri 9th May.
One of Andy L’s favourite shows at SXSW last month (where they seemed to be talked about everywhere) the Monotonix live experience is perfect for Henry’s, where their ridiculously high-energy, confrontational approach will go down a treat.
Hailing from Tel Aviv, Israel, a city not famous for its rock n roll scene, this garage-rock 3-piece formed in November 2005, set up on the floor of a club amongst the audience, and the party began. The catch being that the party usually got too wild, the power got cut, the cops were called and Monotonix were banned from playing again almost everywhere in Tel Aviv. Before long, they were looking for good places to play outside of Israel. The band have spent the last year or more touring incessantly around North America and a bit of Europe, supporting the likes of Silver Jews, Queens Of The Stone Age, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, The Thermals and Dark Meat.
But what of the tunes? Massive, is the answer. Raw, melodic, danceable and satisfyingly heavy. Their forthcoming EP on Drag City “Body Language” (produced by Tim Green of the Fucking Champs) sounds almost like a Monotonix show. What you can’t hear is, as one astounded blogger put it, ‘the sound of your heart beating in your ears after having been chased around the room by a vocalist with his pants literally on fire’. If by now the Monotonix live show does not sound like an eye-watering, undergarment-dampening prospect then you may want to consult your GP.

The AMD BlogHaus at SXSW Interactive is its own dedicated lounge room in the Austin Convention Center, designed for media-makers to blog, vlog, meet-up, and relax. Thanks to Austin's own AMD, media-makers of all kinds during conference hours are welcome to make free use of high bandwidth Internet access, computer workstations, vlogging station, video gaming area, amongst plenty of power.

Mar 8, 2008: Seesmic Cafe goes to SXSWi - JOIN US! at Fogo de Chao (rooftop terrace)
We decided that the traditional path of doing a booth or meeting space at the conference was contrary to the very core of what Seesmic is all about - and that is conversation.
SO, we've joined forced with the gang at Unwired Nation to bring Seesmic Cafe to Austin!!
From March 8 - March 11 we're hosting a daily cocktail/snack gathering directly across the street from the convention center. On each day we'll welcome folks to mix and mingle while enjoying the open bar and buffet.
PLEASE NOTE THAT SPACE IS LIMITED SO YOU MUST POST A COMMENT INDICATING SPECIFICALLY WHICH DAY YOU WISH TO COME SO THAT WE CAN SORT THE SPACE ACCORDINGLY.
We'll have wireless set up so you can Seesmic to your heart's delight, and for those who've not yet had a chance to play around with Seesmic, this is a great chance to do that while meeting some of the team and members of the community.

Come on down and meet fellow Flickrites! The Austin group on Flickr is organizing a get-together at the Cathedral of Junk! As a bonus, some of the Flickr team from San Francisco will be in town -- they are sponsoring drinks and may have some free swag to give away as well! And, if it goes as usual, Flickr members from around the world will be there!
